Our advice for Easter? Make sure treasure hunts are avoided!
To get straight to the point: of course, we’re not going to stop the beautiful tradition of hiding eggs. What we do want to clarify, however, is that Easter egg hunts are one of the few “hunts” that are genuinely fun. Moreover, there are no serious consequences involved.
Easter is about hope, new life, and triumph over death.
With that in mind, we want to clarify our advice to avoid treasure hunts, starting with “triumph over death.” When someone passes away, in many cases you just have to hope that everything is properly taken care of, while life for everyone else continues. Easter is also about creating a new beginning.
Sharing a meal with family – a perfect moment to…
We actually have a very practical tip. Soon, you’ll be gathered with the whole family again. The new beginning you can create is to have an informal conversation together about: “What if something happens to me?” This is a discussion that is often postponed, which in most cases leads to treasure hunts for your loved one or, in the worst case, conflict.
The eggs that are found are often shared among everyone. With that in mind, also consider who you would want to share your passwords with, who should be aware of your (final) wishes, what should happen to your social media accounts, and much more.
You can also assign trusted persons.
Preventing treasure hunts works even better if you appoint trusted persons in time, who can look after you both during your life and after. Life After Me’s motto makes it clear: “Enable people to leave behind and share all that matters.” You’ll need others for that, probably the ones sitting at the Easter table.
Happy Easter!
